these are the latest poems that i have written all thanks to you mom

There’s a feeling that lingers
around the community.
a feeling like home.
Where everyone is known to their neighbor
and everyone pleased with the next.
I remember ms. Simmons
would always offer my brother and me
ice cream on hot, summer days,
and cocoa on the cold, winter ones.
And Frankie would never hesitate to play with us
when all our friends were away.
And then there was Betty.
who thinks everyone likes her,
and has to ride in her car to her mailbox
four feet from her door.
and she loves to stir up trouble with my family.
And even the cops dislike her for
making them come to my house for no reason.
It was when she was gone,
And Frankie couldn’t play.
That my brother and I would play pranks
on Mr. and Mrs. Old.
and pretend
we were spies on a secret mission
or superhumans
and explore the woods behind our street
where sunlight wasn’t welcome
for the trees were as stubborn as a donkey
hogging all the light
but also served as a protection to us
from the summer heat
and provide me with a sense of home.

Restaurant Memories
I remember sitting there
In that makeshift pew
Made of a row of seats
And in that little church,
That used to be a restaurant,
I thought about how
People used to come here
Looking for a good time.
Who would have thought that
Your casket would be sitting
In the middle of it
And all around people mourning.
In that restaurant,
There was no sad organ music and crying;
But rather laughter of joyful people
And sounds of dishes hitting against each other
Rather than peoples’ sobs.
Just like those joyful memories
Of a happy restaurant,
You too have gone.
I am shocked that this
Could have happened,
And while all around me,
People sit crying,
I sit and wonder
Why?
Why you?
Why does death have to happen?
But not all things last forever,
Just like that most favorite restaurant
And how it has been replaced with a church.
That restaurant has been gone for years,
But, even still,
Its memories are held within.

Magnolia
Magnolia
Branches
Extend from an
Ever-so big body;
Like arms that hold
A nest of young birds,
Or offers a home to those who
Seek shelter in her shade
From sun and rain.
She is so beautifully decorated
With flowers perched precariously
On her embossed, green leaves
That provide her with a perfume of her own.
They seem to glow in a beautiful
Blend of white and pink.
The same ones that make me look forward
to their beautiful blooms in the spring.
Sitting in her arms, and close to her body,
she doesn’t seem to mind that I talk to her
and tell her all my stories.
And she, in return,
Provides me with a place to go
And escape the world.

A Poem
1 Life to live

3 sets of grandparents
4 brothers
5 days of school
6 siblings
7days a week
8 seconds behind
9 hours to sleep

Grounded
After The Greatest Tricycle Rider

A young boy of free spirits lives in my heart
That hangs from trees
And bounces off walls
A young boy that loves to play
On the playground everyday after school
Instead of doing homework

But all young boys grow up
And no longer have time to hang from trees
Nor do they bounce off walls
But watch as others do.
They are no longer able to swing
from the rusty monkey bars
because their feet touch the ground
and keep them grounded
and held back from the real fun.

In Georgia  / Your Beloved Mom Missing You So
Hi sweetheart,
I'm posting this short message to you from the Days Inn in Atlanta GA...traveled down here with Tommy. He is changing trucking companies and needed to bring all of his stuff. Little Michael is with his dad while I'm gone. Brandon is staying with Beth and Jamie is staying with Misty. I'm dreading the nine hour drive back on Wednesday. I love you and JJ very much and think of you both often. Watch over us here...we have the hard part.

She is with us....  / Melissa Smith (grieving Mom) (none)

Heaven knows what you've been through
So much pain
Even though you can't see
I'm not far away
Since you went away
I light candles and say prayers
Know that love still remains

Close your eyes, go to sleep
Know my love is all around you
Dream in peace, when you wake
You will know I'm still with you

Live your life from this day on
And love again
I know you'd do the same for me
That's the way that loves is supposed to be

When you feel those lonely teardrops
Rolling down your face
Just know my love watches over you
Always

Close your eyes, go to sleep
Know my love is all around you
Dream in peace, when you wake
You will know I'm still with you
I'm still with you

You are in my daily prayers, Melissa

To Jeremy and Morgan
I just got this link from your Grandma Diane and I wanted to let you know how proud your Mum would be and how very special I think you are.
I'm really sorry you have lost such a very special person in your lives - it doesn't seem fair sometimes that such wonderful people have to go to heaven so soon.  I hope she's met my little Angel Meshael.  Sending you lots of love and Angel hugs
God Bless

I know how you feel  / Holly Beving (friend of Grandma Diane )

Jeremy, Trent, Morgan and Michael,

I lost my mom before I was grown up too.  I know how hard it can be, cuz you miss her so much, and you want to talk to her and ask her questions, and get her opinion and tell you love her, and maybe that you were sorry for times when you weren't the best kid( I felt that way anyway, cuz sometimes I wasn't the best kid!)..

I never got to meet your mom, but I know your Grandma Diane pretty well.  She is a good lady, and she loves you every bit as much as your mama did.  She believes is doing the right thing, even if sometimes it is not the easiest thing, and that is a good way for all of us to be.

I know for certain your mom is with you.  She sees all the good things you do, I am not so sure she can see things that may happen that are bad, but I know, she give you strength to get through tough times, cuz that is what all good moms do, whether they are here on earth or in heaven, they are always cheering for us and helping us to be good people.

There are a lot of things that aren't so good or right in this world.  Sometimes even people we think should be good to us, aren't but, we have to learn from them how NOT to be, and always remember that being a good person, doing the right thing, is the most honorable thing we can do not only for our parent that has gone before us, but also, the most honorable thing we can do for ourself.  Somtimes that is super hard, but in the end, you will always have pride in yourself if you are good to people and treat them in a way you would want to be treated.

I am so proud of you kids for making this site for your mom. I know it means so much to her.

Thinking of you kids,

Holly Beving

About Memories  / Your Loving Mom (mother)  Read >>
About Memories  / Your Loving Mom (mother)
Memories are a great gift.
Memories are given to us by God.
As a keepsake and a treasure.
Memories allow us to call upon the past
Without reliving it.
Memories offer us opportunities
To laugh, or to cry,
To smile, or to reminisce
About old events and experiences.
Memories help us
Learn about the past,
So that we can pass on
Great happenings to young learners.
Memories support us
As we cautiusly step into our future.
Memories teach us
About what things are good to repeat.
Memories warn us
About what things should never
Be allowed to happen again.
If we open our minds,
Memories allow and offer
And help and support
And teach and warn
About life.
Memories are a gift of the past,
That we hold in the present,
To create what can be a great future.
Treasure and keep memories,
For the sake of Life.

Dear Jeremy and Morgan:  / Cathy Chapman (Friend of your Grandma )
I feel privileged tonight to visit the website you have created for your mom you so miss! I am so sorry that you have lost your mom and have been praying for all of you for a long time. I meet your Grandma Diane on-line on Sisterhoodinprayer and then met her last June at the retreat. A beautiful woman; and as she shared her love of her daughter (your mom) and your uncle J.J....I learned much about them and how very special they were to all of you.  Looking at photos of them and all of you children....I feel very connected to all of you and promise to think of you often and pray.
Great job on your mom's site....you have really done an honour to a lady whom you call, "MOM"!!
